Naples – Books for Collier Kids (BCK), a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing a steady stream of new books to children in low-income families throughout Collier and South Lee Counties, received a donation of more than $9,000 from a golf outing held at Country Creek Country Club on Thursday, February 13, 2020.

“We’re so grateful to be the beneficiary of Country Creek Country Club golf outing,” explains Vice Chair Nora Kolmer. “This generous donation allows Books for Collier Kids to leverage our buying power to provide 5,000 new titles for students to read, cherish and share with their family and friends. Books that foster their imaginations and provide them the skills to succeed in school and life.”

The golf outing was Chaired by Patricia O’Connor and featured many chances to win including silent auction, mulligans, Harry Potter Putter, donations, hole sponsors and bunco. Funds raised provide BCK the opportunity to provide new, age-appropriate books to non-profits helping underserved children in Collier and South Lee counties, including Garagiola Farm Workers Village, New Horizons of SW Florida, Redlands Christian Migrant Association and St. Leo Catholic Church’s after school program.

Books for Collier Kids provides new books to children in-need, addressing one of the most important factors affecting literacy: access to books. Launched in 2005 as First Book-Collier County, BCK has distributed more than 1.2 million new, high-quality, age-appropriate and personalized books to pre-K, kindergarten, first- and second-grade students in-need to transform their lives.

The all-volunteer charity partners with more than 20 local organizations, including the Collier County Public Schools, Friends of Foster Children Forever, Fun Time Early Childhood Academy, Habitat for Humanity of Collier County, Guadalupe Center, Grace Place for Children and Families and Christ Child Society of Naples.
