It’s a love story and, baby, she said yes: Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are engaged. The superstar singer and football player revealed the news in a five-photo joint post on Instagram on Tuesday. It's the fairytale culmination of a courtship that for two years has thrilled and fascinated millions around the world. It's unclear when and where the two got engaged. Trump's attempt to fire Fed governor Lisa Cook is likely to lead to a major legal battle

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump’s attempt to fire one of the seven Federal Reserve governors will likely end up in court and could more clearly define the limits of the president’s legal powers over the traditionally independent institution. Legal experts say Trump’s claim he can fire Lisa Cook is on shaky ground. But it’s an unprecedented move that hasn’t played out in the courts before. The Supreme Court this year has been more willing to let the president remove agency officials than in the past. The Republican president said Monday he was removing Cook because of allegations she committed mortgage fraud. Cook was appointed by Democratic President Joe Biden in 2022 and says she won't step down.

Regional competitions will be held in the spring, followed by a White House event with the national winners.

Australian Open champion Madison Keys loses in the US Open's first round to Renata Zarazua of Mexico

NEW YORK (AP) — Australian Open champion Madison Keys has been undone by 89 unforced errors during a 6-7 (10), 7-6 (3), 7-5 loss to Mexico’s Renata Zarazua in the first round of the U.S. Open. The sixth-seeded Keys, who was the runner-up at Flushing Meadows in 2017, made so many mistakes Monday, including 14 double-faults, that Zarazua needed to produce just eight winners to earn the biggest victory of her career. The 82nd-ranked Zarazua had lost in either the first or second round in all eight of her previous Grand Slam appearances. Keys earned her first major championship at Melbourne Park in January, defeating No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in the final.

Cracker Barrel says it "could've done a better job" with release of new logo that angered some fans

Cracker Barrel is sticking with its new logo. But the chain is also apologizing to fans who were angered when the change was announced last week. Cracker Barrel said Monday that it could have done a better job sharing the company's reasons for the new logo. It also emphasized that many things won't change, like the rocking chairs on its front porches. Cracker Barrel took heat on social media last week when it announced a simplified logo featuring only the chain’s name. Gone was the picture of an older man in overalls leaning against a barrel. The words “Old Country Store” were also removed.

Southwest Airlines' new policy will affect plus-size travelers. Here's how

Southwest Airlines will soon require plus-size travelers to pay for an extra seat in advance if they can't fit within the armrests of one seat. This change is part of several updates the airline is making. The new rule starts on Jan. 27, the same day Southwest begins assigning seats. Currently, plus-size passengers can pay for an extra seat in advance and later get a refund, or request a free extra seat at the airport. Under the new policy, refunds are still possible but not guaranteed. Southwest said in a statement it is updating policies to prepare for assigned seating next year.

Terry McLaurin and the Commanders agree on a 3-year extension worth $96 million, AP source says

The Washington Commanders and top wide receiver Terry McLaurin have agreed to a three-year contract extension worth $96 million, according to a person with knowledge of the deal. McLaurin initially did not report to training camp and then landed on the physically unable to perform list once he reported. McLaurin turns 30 in September and was going into the final year of his contract. The 2019 third-round pick out of Ohio State has eclipsed 1,000 yards receiving five seasons in a row and fell just 81 short as a rookie when he missed time because of injury.

A racket vibration dampener gets lost, then found after a lengthy search at the US Open

NEW YORK (AP) — One of the early matches Monday at the U.S. Open was delayed for several minutes for an unscheduled game of hide and seek. The vibration dampener popped off two-time Grand Slam champion Barbora Krejcikova's racket on the second point of her match against Victoria Mboko of Canada. Chair umpire Aurelie Tourte, Mboko and eventually the crowd and security aided Krejcikova in her search. Once it was located, the 29-year-old from Czechia advanced in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2. Mboko, who turns 19 on Tuesday, played her first match coming off winning in Montreal with her right wrist heavily taped.

Shilo Sanders waived by the Buccaneers, AP source says

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Shilo Sanders was waived by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, less than 24 hours after he was ejected from a game for throwing a punch, a person with knowledge of the decision told The Associated Press on Sunday. The person spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because the team hasn’t announced its cuts. Sanders, the son of Hall of Fame cornerback Deion Sanders, was battling for a roster spot after going undrafted out of Colorado, where he played for his father. He was also penalized for pass interference earlier in Tampa Bay’s 23-19 loss to Buffalo. The Buccaneers could still add Sanders to the practice squad if he doesn’t get claimed off waivers by another team.

'KPop Demon Hunters' gives Netflix its first box-office win

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Rival studios on Sunday estimated that the Netflix film, “KPop Demon Hunters” led all films in the box office this weekend with $16-18 million in ticket sales. The numbers were shared by three studios on the condition of anonymity because the streaming company has a policy of not reporting ticket sales. Following a dominating few weeks as one of the most popular Netflix releases ever, the streamer put the film into 1,750 theaters for sing-along screenings Saturday and Sunday. David A. Gross, who runs the movie consulting firm FranchiseRe, calls it “a completely unique two-day musical event.”
