Boaters advised to stay away from buoy line near Moore Haven

Posted

MOORE HAVEN — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has added a lighted buoy line along the north end of Culvert Structure S-281, the first large culvert structure located north of the Moore Haven Lock and Dam, to prevent additional plant material from entering the federal channel and impacting its flood control and navigation missions. Boaters cannot enter this area due to the buoy line.

The corps is trying to keep the plant material from blowing south toward the Moore Haven Lock and Dam, so they can work on removing the material as quickly as possible to reopen the Moore Haven Lock and Dam to navigation. Heavy equipment crews are working 12-hour shifts again through this weekend in order to try to remove as much plant material as possible.
