MOORE HAVEN- Former Lake Placid assistant coach Deric Allen has been hired to lead the Terriers as the next head coach of the football program at Moore Haven.
Allen was the offensive coordinator, quarterbacks coach, and defensives backs coach for the Lake Placid Dragons. He helped the Dragons reach their first 2A District Championship since 1998, as well as a regional playoff appearance.
Allen is a graduate of Chiefland High School. He went on to attend Florida A&M University and Santa Fe College and is currently completing his degree in Sports Management.
“We are excited to have Coach Allen leading the charge for the Terriers and look forward to his continued success with the team,” said Moore Haven Middle-High School in a post announcing the hire. “Coach Allen’s deep connection to the community, experience in developing young athletes, and proven track record in high school football make him an outstanding addition to the Moore Haven Middle-High School football program. His leadership will undoubtedly inspire the next generation of athletes, both on the field and in life.”
The Terriers finished with a 5-5 record last season, winning three back-to-back games to close out the regular season before falling to Madison County in the rural semifinal.
