MOORE HAVEN — Glades County Sheriff David Hardin’s office announced Thursday, Sept. 10, that nine people were arrested during a recent investigation of illegal drug trafficking coordinated with federal authorities.
“Over the past month, we partnered with the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) to crack down on the transportation of illicit narcotics through our county. During several interdiction operations, we seized a wide variety of narcotics and made numerous arrests.
“This joint operation has proven to be successful and will continue,” the GCSO statement continued.
The sheriff’s office listed nine recent arrests and charges being filed:
• Barry Schlueter, 48, Moore Haven — possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia; bond was set at $6,000;
• Cristina Peiffer, 28, Lehigh Acres — possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia; bond was set at $6,000;
• Joe Marin, 58, Moore Haven — possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest without violence and assault on a law enforcement officer; bond was set at $8,000;
• Wykerra Gilkes, 25, Moore Haven — possession of cocaine; bond was set at $15,000;
• Benjamin Carpenter, 32, Moore Haven — possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and possession of a stolen firearm; bond was set at $20,000;
• David Swanson, 50, Moore Haven — possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia; bond was set at $11,000;
• Keyshawn Hughes, 41, Punta Gorda — possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia; bond was set at $16,000;
• Shannon Johnston, 41, Bruceton Mills, W.Va. — possession of a harmful new legend drug, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia; no bond set; and,
• Dineshwar Soltit, 29, Clewiston — possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia; bond was set at $6,000.
