On Nov. 13, 2018, the Green Thumb Garden Club (GTGC) met at the First United Methodist Church in the Life Enrichment Center. The purpose of the meeting was to rejuvenate Christmas decorations for the public library in Clewiston. Every year for the past 40 years, the GTGC has decorated the library with natural plants and items of nature found locally.

On Dec. 4, the GTGC decorated the Clewiston Public Library. A meeting was also held in the back room at the library. Afterward, they met at Roland and Mary Ann Martin’s Marina and Resort for lunch.

Special to the Lake Okeechobee News/GTGC
Nineteen members of the GTGC decorated the Clewiston Public Library for Christmas 2018.

On Jan. 8, the GTGC met at the Clewiston Public Library to put the Christmas decorations away, and cleaned up. A brief meeting took place in the back room at the library. The main purpose of it was to assign and pass out tickets and flyers for the annual Valentine Tea Party, which happened Saturday, Feb. 9.

The club hoped to have a big turnout. The Valentine Tea Parties have been very successful in the past, and we’re very excited about this year’s event. The GTGC uses this fundraiser to give back to the community.
