LABELLE- LaBelle Mayor Julie C. Wilkins expressed disappointment after the Christmas lights decorating the outside of City Hall were vandalized on Nov. 6.
“I just have to say how disappointed I am with vandals,” said Mayor Wilkins in a post on the City of LaBelle’s Facebook page. “I do not understand the need for it. We, our staff, worked hard to make City Hall shine and some folks last night decided to wreck everything. It is very sad.”
Mayor Wilkins is asking that if anyone saw the damage being done to City Hall, please call 863-675-2872. She reported that city staff managed to fix the lights and get them operational again.
“To all our good citizens, we say ‘thank you for loving LaBelle,” Mayor Wilkins concluded in the post.
The Hendry County News reached out to City Hall to request more information on the damage done to the lights and to highlight the workers who repaired them, but staff reported that the City of LaBelle has no further comment on the matter.
