LABELLE – The LaBelle Gallery and Cultural Center is seeking quilters to participate in its “Airing of the Quilts” on Saturday, Feb. 3, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at 431 N. Lee St. in LaBelle.
This is a display for area quilters, and not a show, said Stella Luckey, president of Arts of the Inland/LaBelle Gallery and Cultural Center.
Registration for the event closes on Jan. 30 and quilters can register at https://forms.gle/9wwKPEBgCxLk3fEf7.
Luckey said the venue wants to showcase quilts from local quilters and is hoping for a big turnout. There is no charge to have a space to hang the quilts, and quilters can set up a table next to their showcased quilt to sell other quilted items for $25.
There will be clotheslines hung and clothes pins for quilters to hang their work, and Luckey said only those who sign up for a table need to stay for the entire event. Quilters will need to return by 3 p.m. that day to collect their quilts or arrange to pick them up by 5 p.m.
“We will help you hang the quilts between 7:30 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. on Feb. 3,” she said.
Luckey added that if there is enough interest at this event, a show may be planned for next year.
