A new twist on celebrating Mother’s Day

Posted

Many months bring holidays, and so does May — Mother’s Day.

See how the “M” and the “ay” are connected? Here is something important to know about mothers: They will always do anything and everything possible to help their children. They are the only ones who have a “power” to solve the smallest problems, like calming their crying baby, or the largest ones, like reasoning with a persistent teen.

The stage is set. Mom, you are at the helm. Here is what you oversee: A balanced life for your child in five areas – Cognitive, motor, social, language and self-esteem. Right from the start you know how to keep your little one learning about the world. Then school kicks in to help you lead the way for your child’s cognitive success.

Next, you carefully guide your little one through milestones of development like sitting up, standing, crawling and walking. Your joy from seeing all of these cannot be matched. Then all kinds of games and sports follow for your child to continue building his/her motor foundation.

Next, there is nothing more wonderful than baby’s first smile — the start of social development. You know exactly how to initiate that and then to keep it going. Uh-oh. Oops! Where are the people helpers — family, friends and even neighbors? Where did they go? They were the “social” and language builders.

As we continue to climb the AI ladder filled with screen time, “social” and “language” development both take big hits. However, no worries, happily mom is there to save the day. It is her self-esteem that reigns, her “power” to keep the family growing and glowing.

It is she who exudes great strength and then instills that in each family member, every day and all the time.
