Beverly Repak

Posted by nick@gradresources.org

Beverly Jean (Hickman) Repak was born in Girard (IL) in 1932 and moved to Washington, D.C. in 1940. She attended D.C. public schools and met Peter Repak at a social club at St. Matthew’s Cathedral. They married in 1951 and had seven children.

Beverly and Pete were members of Little Flower Catholic Church in Bethesda (MD) for 40 years. Beverly worked in the Housing Office at American University for 18 years until Pete retired. The two moved to Okeechobee and settled in Big O Resort in 1995.

Pete passed away in 2010 and Beverly continued to live at Big O, enjoying game nights with women friends, Bingo at the Moose, and gatherings at the Big O Clubhouse.

A phrase that best characterizes Beverly is, “She never met a stranger.” She would ask acquaintances their names and write them in her Bible so she could pray for them and their families. She had thousands of names in her Bible when she passed away in Dallas on her 93rd birthday after a short illness. She’s survived by 7 children, 20 grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren.

A Mass in her memory will be held at St. Teresa Catholic Church in Okeechobee on June 2 at 11 am.
