ARCADIA- The Okeechobee Brahmans dominated DeSoto County Bulldogs on Oct. 9, winning 26-8 on the road and improving to 3-5 on the season.
Okeechobee went up 12-0 in the first half, with the DeSoto offense threating to score just before halftime. But the Brahman defense stood strong and intercepted a DeSoto pass at the goal line to shut the Bulldogs out in the first two quarters.
DeSoto returned the favor in the second half, intercepting a Brahman pass before marching down field and scoring a touchdown and a two-point conversion. But Okeechobee responded with a long, methodical drive and scoring a touchdown of their own to keep the game out of reach for the Bulldogs.
Sophomore quarterback Chris Sneed led an offense that piled up 308 total yards, completing 22 of 30 passes for 207 yards and two touchdowns. Senior receiver Armani Jenkins was the go-to target, hauling in six catches for 116 yards, including a long of 32, and both of Sneed’s touchdown passes. Senior Ross Santos added six receptions for 48 yards.
On the ground, freshman Elijah Gordon carried the load with 18 rushes for 79 yards and a touchdown, and senior John Immerfall punched in a short-yardage score. Sneed also ran in a two-point conversion to round out the scoring. The Brahmans next travel to Palm Bay to face the Bayside Bears on Oct. 16.
