WEST PALM BEACH — The Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller, Palm Beach County, earned a national award for financial reporting excellence for the 18th consecutive year from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA).
Checks & Balances: Your Guide to County Finances received GFOA’s Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting, which recognizes governments that effectively communicate financial information to the public.
The award-winning guide explains county property tax revenue, investment income, expenses and more in an easy-to-read format for the public. It contains condensed and simplified information from the office’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report, which is compiled at the end of each fiscal year.
“Checks & Balances helps people understand where their local tax dollars go and how that money is spent,” said Joseph Abruzzo, Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller for Palm Beach County. “This recognition from the GFOA highlights our dedication to educating the community about Palm Beach County’s financial operations in a clear and meaningful way.”
The GFOA praised Checks & Balances, also known as the Popular Annual Financial Report, for its reader appeal and understandability.
