MOORE HAVEN – A Mississippi man died in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 27 in Glades County early Feb. 20, according to the Florida Highway Patrol report.

A Dodge Charger was eastbound in the outside lane, directly behind a semi with a trailer on U.S. 27 near East Pony Place, around 4:20 a.m. The semi began to slow for the changing of the posted speed from 45 mph to 35 mph. The Charger driver, a 27-year-old man from Beaumont, Miss., failed to ensure proper distance between the vehicles and failed to slow. The front of the Charger collided with the rear of the trailer.

The driver of the Charger was pronounced dead at the scene. The semi driver, a 39-year-old Winter Haven man, was not injured.

The accident is still under investigation.
