GLADES COUNTY – The Fort Center Trail in the Fisheating Creek Wildlife Management Area (WMA), managed by Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Area, is popular with hikers and bicyclists.

The Fort Center Trail starts at 1937 Banana Grove Road (off State Road 78).

Fisheating Creek WMA is an 18,406-acre conservation area. It features diverse habitats, abundant wildlife, and recreational opportunities along the 40-mile free-flowing Fisheating Creek.

Early morning is the best time for viewing wildlife. The WMA is home to deer, turkeys, wading birds, ducks, hogs and more.

Be sure to bring insect repellent and drinking water. Part of the trail is shaded, but sunscreen is advised.
