Special to Lake Okeechobee News

OKEECHOBEE — The bag you see contains roughly 80-100 faded or tattered American flags.

Sheriff Noel E. Stephen partnered with Buxton Bass Funeral Home and Crematory, after learning that no longer did the disposal of flags take place locally. Over this past weekend, we collected just under 500 flags for proper disposal which the Buxton family graciously will see to.

OCSO wants to thank everyone whot stopped by, including a special guest from Bentleys Lemonade, C.E.O. Ja'Quan Bentley Jr., who made sure Mr. Nash and his fellow workers were no longer thirsty after getting his incredible gift.

For those that missed it, OCSO will collect flags every six months.
Thank you again!
