Clewiston, Moore Haven and Glades Central all broke into the win column last week, while Pahokee stayed perfect with its most lopsided win of the young season. The week's only head-to-head meeting between area schools went to Clewiston, which handed Okeechobee its second straight loss, and Glades Day fell at home after picking up its first win the week before.
Pahokee Blue Devils (3-0)
Pahokee remained unbeaten under first-year coach Carlos Lammons Sr., cruising past Benjamin 33-3 at Anquan Boldin Stadium on Sept. 3. The comfortable win came a week after the Blue Devils escaped Royal Palm Beach with a 16-14 victory. Quarterback Braylon Peterson threw for 170 yards and two touchdowns against the Buccaneers, and the defense came up with two interceptions, including a 91-yard pick-six by Uzarus Boswell.
Okeechobee Brahmans (2-2)
After opening its first SSAA season 2-0, Okeechobee has hit a rough patch. A week after a 48-0 home loss to Space Coast, the Brahmans traveled to Cane Field on Sept. 4 and fell 14-8 to Clewiston in a battle between Lake Okeechobee-area rivals. Okeechobee returns home this week to host St. Edward's at 7 p.m. on Sept. 11. The Pirates (1-3) are coming off a 42-15 loss at Boca Raton Christian, but they beat the Brahmans 28-7 when the teams met last season.
Clewiston Tigers (1-3)
Pablo Sanchez has his first win as Clewiston's head coach. After a 35-6 loss at The King's Academy on Aug. 28, the Tigers came home to Cane Field and defeated Okeechobee 14-8 on Sept. 4, snapping a three-game skid to open the season. Sanchez, the Tigers' former defensive coordinator, was promoted to head coach in December. Clewiston stays home this week to host Calvary Christian Academy of Fort Lauderdale at 7 p.m. on Sept. 11. The Eagles (2-2) are coming off a 40-32 loss at Jupiter Christian.
Glades Day Gators (1-3)
Glades Day couldn't build on its first win of the season. A week after beating Oxbridge Academy 27-12 in Belle Glade, the Gators fell 44-10 to Westminster Academy at home on Sept. 4. Glades Day hits the road this week to face Jupiter Christian at 7 p.m. on Sept. 11. The Eagles (2-2) are coming off a 40-32 win over Calvary Christian Academy, the same team Clewiston hosts this week.
Glades Central Raiders (1-2)
Glades Central's offense came alive in a 55-26 road rout of Palm Beach Gardens on Sept. 4, giving the Raiders their first win after a 42-27 home loss to John Carroll Catholic on Aug. 27. Junior quarterback Tawan Roux was nearly flawless, completing 83.3 percent of his passes for 221 yards and four touchdowns. Sophomore receiver Algernod Crawford hauled in three of those scores and finished with a season-high 81 receiving yards, and the Raiders added 150 yards on the ground. Glades Central returns home to host Royal Palm Beach at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 10. The Wildcats (2-1) fell 16-14 to Pahokee on Aug. 28. Corian Davis had the other pick, and sophomore linebacker Craig Lawrence made 11 tackles. Pahokee stays home this week to host Atlantic at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 10. The Eagles (2-1) are coming off a 9-6 win over Blanche Ely.
Moore Haven Terriers (1-1)
Coming off an open date, Moore Haven made the most of its home opener, beating Bonita Springs 39-14 on Sept. 4 for the Terriers' first win of the season. Moore Haven hits the road this week, traveling to Lakeland to face Victory Christian Academy at 7 p.m. on Sept. 11. The Storm (2-2) are coming off a 54-28 loss at Calvary Christian of Clearwater
