LITTLE ROCK — Former Clewiston Tiger Chauncy Cobb leads the Arkansas State Red Wolves with 25 receptions through five games. Cobb also ranks second on the team with 258 receiving yards.

His longest catch this season went for 46 yards against Kennesaw State on Sept. 26. On third-and-11 he took a screen pass to the Owls' 2-yard line, setting up the tying touchdown in a 17-14 win. His 396 all-purpose yards lead the team, an average of 79.2 per game. That total includes 34 rushing yards on six carries and 104 kickoff-return yards against Louisiana. It was in that Louisiana game where Cobb had a highlight reel kickoff return.

The Ragin' Cajuns had just tied Arkansas State 10-10 on a 38-yard field goal with 9:04 left in the third quarter. Logan Klotz's kickoff carried 65 yards to the goal line, and Cobb brought it all the way to the Louisiana 18 before Lake Bates ran him down.

None of this will surprise anyone who watched Cobb at Clewiston High School. As a senior in October 2022, he was named Big Lake Athlete of the Week after a 27-0 win over Lake Placid.

The Tigers' offense had struggled to find a rhythm for most of that season, so the coaches put the ball in Cobb's hands with direct snaps in the backfield. He ran for 126 yards and two touchdowns and threw a 60-yard touchdown pass.

Cobb had already committed to Arkansas State by then, and he thanked his coaches for "pushing me to the best of my ability." He finished his senior year with 1,246 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns, then enrolled early for the Red Wolves' 2023 spring practice.

Cobb has 99 career receptions with the Red Wolves. He passed 1,000 career receiving yards at Louisiana and now sits at 1,059.
