OKEECHOBEE -- Frank DeCarlo has announced his candidacy for the Okeechobee County Commission District 2 seat.

On April 6, DeCarlo made an announcement on Facebook that he will seek election to the position that has been vacant since the resignation of Bryant Culpepper in March 2021.

“For more than 44 years, I have made Okeechobee my home; raising my five children here and having the joy of seeing my 13 grandchildren grow up here,” he said.

“I have owned and operated American Drilling Services, a family business, for 38 years, always striving to serve Okeechobee’s citizens to the best of my ability.

“I regularly volunteer with local community organizations like the Pregnancy Center, Real Life Children's Ranch, Fraternal Order of Police, and numerous other groups all in the effort to better the lives of everyone in Okeechobee.

“As a Christian I have tried to show God’s love through my actions, serving as a board member for Real Life Children’s Ranch, previously operating a young men’s halfway home, and also through my regular service to numerous churches in our community. Through it all, I have kept an open mind, attentive ear, and discerning heart.

“Okeechobee is a part of every substantial memory in my life. And the betterment of Okeechobee and its citizens has always been at the heart of my service to our community. I truly love Okeechobee. So today, I am announcing my candidacy for Okeechobee County Commissioner, District 2," he continued.

“I look forward to earning your vote so that I may represent each of your voices. Together we can keep Okeechobee a place families want to raise their children while increasing the economic opportunities for every citizen. Together, WE are Okeechobee.”

The 2022 primary election will be held Aug. 23. The general election will be Nov. 8.
