LABELLE — Girl Scouts of Gulfcoast Florida is proud to recognize Girl Scout Troop 87 of LaBelle for their recent community service project supporting Caloosa Humane Society.
Through proceeds earned during the Girl Scout Cookie Program, the troop designed and carried out a service project of their choosing. They selected the local Caloosa Humane Society as a cause close to their hearts. The girls collected donated supplies and spent time at the shelter engaging with dogs and cats, providing enrichment, comfort, and care for animals awaiting adoption.
The Girl Scout Cookie Program is more than a cookie sale—it is a girl-led entrepreneurship program that teaches essential life skills such as goal setting, decision-making, money management, people skills, and business ethics. Importantly, troops earn money that stays local and goes directly back to them, allowing girls to fund activities, adventures, and community service projects like this one.
Troop 87’s visit brought joy not only to the shelter animals, but also to staff and volunteers at Caloosa Humane Society, who expressed appreciation for the girls’ compassion, generosity, and hands-on support.
Girl Scouts of Gulfcoast Florida is proud to support troops like Troop 87 who are using the Cookie Program to turn leadership lessons into action—proving that when girls lead, communities thrive.
