HENDRY COUNTY — The following column is the Road Watch report for Hendry County for the week beginning Sunday, June 16, provided by the Florida Department of Transportation.

Motorists are reminded to wear safety belts and drive with caution, courtesy, common sense, and patience as they travel through work zones. Remember, speeding fines are doubled in work zones.

US 27 from Palm Beach County Line to East of San Diego Street: (Construction project) Crews will be resurfacing US 27 from the Palm Beach County line to east of San Diego Street, widening and paving road shoulders along medians, making drainage improvements and cross slope corrections, replacing guardrail, reconstructing ADA ramps to ensure compliance, and install signing and pavement markings. During construction there will be lane closures on US 27 from the Palm Beach County line to east of San Diego Street. Please use caution in the area and watch for workers in the work zones.

• Motorists should expect northbound and southbound outside lane closures as crews perform shoulder work.

SR 80 Eastbound from the Lee County Line to the Townsend Canal: (Permit project) Motorists can expect intermittent lane closures between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. from April 24 through June 21, 2024. Please watch for workers in the work zone and use caution in the area.
