HENDRY COUNTY - Recently the Selma Daniels Endowed Scholarship Fund was established to honor the life and legacy of this local educator. The scholarship will be an enduring recognition of and testament to a woman of extraordinary courage, a leader in the LaBelle community, and a teacher in the truest sense of the word. As Selma knew and proved, well-trained teachers and a high-performing education system are essential to the success of children, the growth of the local economy, increasing property values, and one of the best ways to promote equity for future generations of residents.
While Hendry County residents have demonstrated their great willingness to help with education, there is opportunity to help our schools continue to improve. One way to help with improvement is through teacher certification - encouraging young people to become future educators in Hendry County. The Selma Daniels Scholarship will offset the cost of tuition for students pursuing the Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education at Florida SouthWestern State College’s Hendry/ Glades Curtis Center. To learn more, please visit the scholarship’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/SelmaDanielsScholarship or call the FSW Foundation office at (239) 489-9210.
To honor the life and legacy of Selma and make the endowed scholarship a reality, send your tax deductible gift to the Selma Daniels Endowed Scholarship Fund at FSW Foundation. Here’s how:
