OKEECHOBEE — After a three-vehicle traffic accident, one of the drivers was charged with DUI. On Feb. 19 at approximately 2:15 a.m., Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Deputy Jamie Knapp responded to the 1900 block of U.S. 441 Southeast in reference to the crash.
When she arrived, Knapp spoke to one of the drivers, Camryn Cashwell, 22, who Knapp said was having difficulty standing due to her injuries sustained in the crash. According to Knapp’s report, Cashwell’s eyes were expanded and not dilating with light. She told Knapp she did not know why the other driver stopped in the road and didn’t know she wasn’t supposed to hit her truck. She said she was coming from the Brahman Bull and had a few drinks but was OK to drive. Knapp noted there was an intense smell of marijuana and alcohol coming from both Cashwell and the vehicle.
Cashwell was transported to Raulerson Hospital due to her injuries.
The second driver told Knapp she was stopped at the red light for construction when Cashwell struck the back of her truck. She complained of chest pain but refused EMS services.
A third driver said he was stopped at the red light when his truck was struck from behind. He said he got out and went to check on Cashwell, who was not able to get out of her car without help. They had to break a window to get her out.
An inventory of Cashwell’s vehicle reportedly included two grams of marijuana and several prescription bottles with her name on them. At the hospital, her blood alcohol level was noted to be 0.116.
Cashwell was arrested on April 18 and charged with DUI. Her bond was set at $500.
