OKEECHOBEE - Our Village enjoyed a visit from Malcom Rush, who stopped by to "speak life to our kids," said Leah Suarez. "What a story: born to an incarcerated mom, taken in by an aunt and uncle, raised in poverty, yet, overcomes all odds to be the first in his family to attend college. He has his Master’s degree in counseling. He has big dreams, including becoming a college president AND the Secretary of Education. BIG DREAMS made possible with hard work. He has a message of HOPE and Extending GRACE, as well as finding your tribe! Malcom, we are so proud and humbled by your words of courage."
Rush is from Okeechobee, works for Broward State College and moonlights at Lightsey's Restaurant in his "spare" time.
