OKEECHOBEE — Thursday, Aug. 21, we recognized WOKC Okeechobee’s True Country Billy Dean, Taylor Marie and Trish Grygo for their dedication in supporting our mission to serve the children of the community. Starting with Al Stokes, the station has been hosting the fundraiser for around 30 years.
For those who are not aware, each year we host an annual radio auction fundraiser. The OHS Key Club students answer the phones while members keep everything organized.
Businesses, organizations and individuals donate items. The items are auctioned off during the live stream. We also ask for sponsors. All monies raised go directly to OHS graduates for scholarships.
This fundraiser is normally held in May but we are moving the date since bringing back the Easter Pancake Breakfast.
The next fundraiser will be held Saturday Dec. 6 at 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. If you are interested in being a sponsor or donating, send a message to Okeechobeekiwanis@gmail.com or you may call/text Christina at 863-801-3485.
