LABELLE -- LaBelle High School had another successful year full of athletic honors and championship trophies in 2023-24.

LHS had multiple teams and athletes make apperances in state tournaments this year, as well as honors from coaching associations across the state

The LaBelle Cowgirls varsity softball team capped off a stellar season this year with a trip to the state tournament.  The Cowgirls turned a 19-6 regular season into a deep run into the playoffs, winning the district championship and regional final along the way.  

LaBelle High School gathered to send the Cowgirls off in style on the way to the state tournament, with students lining the hallways to show support as the team left LaBelle on May 21. The next day the Cowgirls faced the Eustis Lady Panthers in the state semifinal. The Lady Panthers took an early 1-0 lead, but the Cowgirls tied things up 1-1 in dramatic fashion in the top of the seventh inning.

Cowgirls coach Raymond Marroquin was named Florida Athletic Coaches Assocation 4A Coach of the Year for his work on guiding the team to the state tournament and for helpingg LaBelle secure to back-to-back district championships.

LaBelle boys weightlifting were crowned district champions this year, and the team had seven athletes representing LaBelle at state championship. Tyrese Davis, Justin Thach, Yoberto Ramines, Eric Soto, Gavin Johnson, Jacquay Bradshaw, and Ilai Villanueca all made the trip to the state tournament for the Cowboys. Aleah Baron placed fourth at the Track and Field state championship in discus. She also placed second at regionals. Baron also placed second in both the Olympic and Traditional lift at the 2A Girls Weightlifting State Championship.

The Cowboys wrestling  team sent a wrestsler to the state tournament this year. Devon Jackson placed seventh in the state. Before that, Jackson took third at the regional championship.
