The Lake Okeechobee News (formerly the Okeechobee News and originally known as the Okeechobee Call) was established in 1914. The newspaper is Okeechobee’s oldest continuing business. The business has changed over the years to meet the community’s needs at the time. It has been a weekly paper, a twice-weekly paper and a daily paper. Currently the Lake Okeechobee News is a “digital daily” with content updated on the LakeONews.com website throughout the week with a print edition on Wednesdays.
The distribution model has also changed over the years, keeping up with the societal changes. While most of our readers now prefer the online edition, some readers still like to read a printed copy.
