Man sentenced to six months for possession and battery

Posted

OKEECHOBEE — Jeffrey Lynn Griffin Jr., 28, was sentenced to six months in county jail after pleading no contest to possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Griffin was arrested in October 2020 after he was accused of shoplifting from a local store. The store declined to press charges but wanted him trespassed from their property. During the interaction Deputy Karson Reno discovered the drugs.

While he was waiting for trial on his original charges, Griffin was charged with aggravated battery on a fellow inmate. As he worked in the kitchen at the jail, Griffin lost his temper and threw a tray at the other inmate causing cuts and swelling on the inmate’s face. Griffin was sentenced to six months for this charge as well, and the sentences will be served concurrently.
