OKEECHOBEE — Danny McClure was sentenced to two years, 10 months and 11 days in state prison after entering a plea of no contest to two counts possession of synthetic cannabinoid, disorderly conduct, trespass other than a structure or conveyance, resisting an officer without violence and tampering with evidence.
McClure was arrested at the Town Star on U.S. 441 Southeast on September 7, 2020. Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Deputy Christopher Tullio responded after a 911 call from the manager regarding narcotics use. When Tullio arrived, he found McClure staggering along side his vehicle. McClure told him he was there to get gas and was about to leave. Tullio asked McClure if he could search him for weapons and McClure agreed. While Tullio was putting on his gloves, he saw McClure emptying his pockets at the rear of his van. The deputy told him to stop and asked him what was in his hand. McClure asked, “If I dump it, can I leave?” Tullio said no and attempted to put him in wrist restraints, but McClure grabbed a plastic bag filled with green leafy substance and shoved it in his mouth. Tullio tried to remove the bag from McClure’s mouth but only succeeded in removing part of the bag.
Because McClure had consumed a large amount of the substance, EMS was called to the scene and checked him out before he was transported to the jail.
McClure was arrested again in December of 2020 after he was seen on video defecating in the laundry room of a local mobile home park. Owners of the park went into the laundry room around 10 a.m. and found a pile of feces in one corner of the room. When they checked their surveillance video, they saw McClure enter the room at about 7 a.m., walk over to that corner and defecate on the floor. When Deputy Devon Satallante found McClure, McClure told him he was in the park visiting a friend. He said he had to use the bathroom but found the park bathrooms locked, so he decided to use the laundry room thinking he could wash it down the drain. He did not explain why he didn’t wash it down the drain.
Once again, he was found with synthetic cannabinoid. This time, he told the deputy he wears other people’s clothing and did not know it was in the pocket.
