Marguerite “Peggy” Fern Waack Basil

Marguerite “Peggy”, age 79, of Okeechobee, Florida passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 11, 2024. Peggy was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. She is survived by her loving husband, Ernest Basil, her sister, Tana Waack Langevin and her three children, Tia Hunt, Phillip Basil & Liza Basil and their families.
Peggy was known for her unwavering kindness and generosity throughout her life. Over 60 years of marriage with her beloved husband, Ernie Basil.
Peggy was not only a devoted wife and mother but also a guiding presence to her children, instilling in them the values of compassion and resilience. Her home was always filled with warmth laughter and aroma of delicious cooking which always brought together family and friends filled with love and joy. Her generosity touched the lives of many, leaving a lasting impression wherever she went. Her most cherished time spent with her grandchildren whom she adored and who adored her in return. She found joy in simple pleasures, like a day out on the water in Lake Okeechobee or enjoying her video games on her iPad.
Peggy leaves behind a family who will forever be inspired by her strength, kindness and unwavering love. Her memory will be cherished by her grandchildren, Noah Basil, Kai Koren, Christopher Hunt, Tianna Hunt and Thomas Hunt. Her life was a testament to the power of love and importance of a family Bond.
A visitation for Peggy will be held Tuesday, June 18, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Dorsey-E. Earl Smith Memory Gardens, 3041 Kirk Road, Lake Worth, FL 33461. A mass of Catholic burial will occur Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at 10:00 AM at St Matthew Catholic Church, 6090 Hypoluxo Rd, Lake Worth Beach, FL 33463.
