FORT MYERS- The Moore Haven Lady Terriers varsity softball team finished the season as one of the elite eight teams in the region after back-to-back wins in the 2A regional playoffs.

The Lady Terriers upset the number two seed, the Admiral Farragut Lady Blue Jackets, 10-4 in the regional quarterfinal on May 8. The Lady Blue Jackets had a 3-1 lead in the third inning. But in the top of the fourth, Moore Haven  added 6 runs to the board to take a 7-3 lead that Admiral Farragut couldn’t bounce back from.

Hayden Davis and Carlee Osceola led the Lady Terriers with three RBIs each, while JoEllen Erskin, Neska Blissett, Teena Covarrubias all had one RBI. Carlee also had three hits in the regional quarterfinal, with one being a triple. On the pitcher’s mound, Preslynn Baker struck out 15 batters in seven innings, allowing only three hits.

Following the upset over Admiral Farragut the Lady Terriers advanced to the regional semifinal where they faced the Seacrest Country Day Lady Stingrays. Seacrest Country took a 5-1 lead in the second inning. But Moore Haven came roaring back in the third and fourth inning and jumped out to a 11-5 lead.

The Lady Terriers went on to win 16-9 and secure their ticket to the regional final. In the championship the Lady Terriers fell to Evangelical Christian 14-0 on May 17 in Fort Myers.

Moore Haven finishes the season 15-10. They lose only one senior this year, Hayden Davis. So, the future should be bright for the Lady Terriers headed into next season.
