OKEECHOBEE -- More holiday decorations are on their way for Flagler Park.

On Dec. 2, the giant Christmas tree in the park next to Okeechobee City Hall was lit up during the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony.
There’s more to come – possibly next week.
Assistant County Administrator – Community Services Denise Whitehead said the original plan was to have all the new displays in place by Dec. 2, but some of the lighting features were delayed in shipping. Only a few of the 30 ground features arrived in time for the Dec. 2 Tree Lighting.
More than 20 lighting features are still on their way. She said every park – from the Butterfly Garden to the Veterans Memorial – will have some kind of holiday lighting feature.
The Christmas in Okeechobee campaign was organized by Okeechobee Culture of Collaboration, a partnership between the City of Okeechobee, Okeechobee County Tourist Development Council, Okeechobee County Economic Development Corporation (OCEDC), Okeechobee Main Street, and numerous private-sector partners.
