OCFR responds to vehicle fire

OKEECHOBEE — Okeechobee County Fire Rescue crews responded to a vehicle fire on June 18 at approximately 8:15 p.m. on Northwest 364th Road.

According to the report, several trucks responded to the scene and found a Utility Terrain Vehicle (aka UTV or side-by-side) burned to the frame. The owner told firefighters he was operating the vehicle around the property when it began to smoke and then caught fire. He tried to put the fire out using multiple fire extinguishers but was unsuccessful. The loss was estimated at $18,000.

In addition to this incident, OCFR also responded to 100 EMS, nine smoke or fire, six motor vehicles and 17 miscellaneous calls between June 17 and 23.

Of 94 possible transports, five were refused.
