OKEECHOBEE — Okeechobee High School issued a text message to all parents on Wednesday, Aug. 5, to inform them that Open House hours will be staggered due to limited parking available at the school.
Hopefully, this will minimize the distance families may need to park and walk in the event of incliment weather.
Open house for Okeechobee High School will be held Thursday, Aug. 6.
The times are as follows:
Freshman 6 - 7 p.m.
Sophmores 7 - 8 p.m.
Juniors & Seniors 8 - 9 p.m.
The statement sent out asked that attendance be limited to current OHS students and their families to help manage the parking and building capacity. At prior Open House events it was not uncommon for former students to attend in order to visit former teachers and mingle with old classmates. There also may be public curiousity in regards to the new building but please do not attend if you are not a current OHS student or the family member of a current OHS student.
All attendees have been asked to enter the campus through the south gate and park in the bus loop and old practice field. When these areas fill up, parking will move to the over-flow lot on 441.
The parking improvements are progressing and are expected to be completed by late fall.
