OKEECHOBEE – Okeechobee County Schools is proud to recognize the Education Foundation of Okeechobee for awarding $41,800 in classroom grants to teachers across the district. This year’s funding will support 58 classroom projects, created by 41 teachers, designed to enhance student achievement through engaging, hands-on learning experiences.

The annual classroom grant program is made possible through generous local donations and matching funds from the State of Florida, allowing teachers to implement creative instructional ideas that directly benefit students.
On Oct. 8, members of the Education Foundation’s Board of Directors made surprise visits to schools throughout the district to personally announce the awards to teachers.

“These grants make a tremendous difference for our teachers and students,” said Dylan Tedders, Superintendent of Schools and Foundation Board Member. “They provide opportunities for innovative teaching and learning that go beyond the traditional classroom experience. We are grateful to the Education Foundation and to the many donors who continue to invest in our schools and our community.”

Alaina Barron, executive director of the Education Foundation of Okeechobee, echoed that sentiment, emphasizing the partnership between the Foundation and the district. “Our mission is to support excellence in education by funding projects that inspire creativity and critical thinking,” Barron said. “We are proud to work alongside Okeechobee County Schools to make these opportunities possible for both teachers and students.”

Okeechobee County Schools extends sincere appreciation to the Education Foundation and its supporters for their continued commitment to educational excellence. Together, these efforts help Okeechobee students truly be known, be challenged, and be empowered.
