OKEECHOBEE — The Florida Department of Education has released the 2025 school grades, and the Okeechobee County School District is pleased to report continued progress and key areas of success. While the district received an overall “C” grade, leaders are optimistic and energized by notable improvements—particularly at Okeechobee High School, which demonstrated meaningful academic growth, and Okeechobee Virtual School, which earned an “A” grade for the first time in its history.
“We are extremely proud of the strides made at Okeechobee High School,” said Superintendent Dylan Tedders. “The school’s improvement reflects the hard work of our students, the dedication of our teachers, and the ongoing support of families and the broader community.”
In addition to the high school’s progress, Okeechobee Virtual School’s “A” rating marks a major milestone for the district. “This recognition speaks to the strength of our instructional strategies and the adaptability of our students and staff in a virtual environment,” Tedders continued. “It’s an exciting achievement and one we hope to build on moving forward.”
District leaders affirm that while there is still work to do, they are focused and determined. The district will continue implementing evidence-based practices that support student learning and close achievement gaps.
“We are committed to ensuring every student succeeds,” said Tedders. “We’ve laid important groundwork and will continue using research-backed approaches to drive performance. With the dedication of our team and the support of our community, I believe we will see even greater growth in the coming year.”
The district thanks its educators, families, and community partners for their continued investment in public education and looks forward to building on this momentum together.
