OKEECHOBEE — The Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office was honored to welcome Florida Lieutenant Governor Jay Collins today as part of his continued outreach efforts with law enforcement leaders across the state of Florida.
Lieutenant Governor Collins met with Sheriff Noel E. Stephen and members of the OCSO command staff to discuss a variety of public safety topics impacting agencies throughout Florida. Discussions included current and future training needs, operational support challenges, recruitment and retention concerns, emerging technology, and the evolving demands facing law enforcement and corrections professionals.
During his visit, Collins toured the Okeechobee County Detention Center renovation project and had the opportunity to meet with many members of the Sheriff’s Office staff from multiple divisions.
Sheriff Stephen stated, “We appreciate Lieutenant Governor Collins taking the time to visit Okeechobee County and engage directly with the men and women serving in public safety. Open conversations about the future needs of law enforcement, corrections, and public safety services are critical as our communities continue to grow and evolve.”
Lieutenant Governor Collins is currently visiting all 67 Florida sheriffs’ offices to better understand the unique challenges, priorities, and expectations agencies have regarding the future of public safety in Florida.
