OKEECHOBEE — Okeechobee County Schools recently saw encouraging gains in student performance on the 2025 Florida State Assessments, with multiple subject areas demonstrating growth and positive momentum.

“This year’s results are a reflection of the hard work and commitment of our students, teachers, and school leaders,” said Superintendent Dylan Tedders. “We are especially proud of the significant growth in key areas that impact college, career, and civic readiness.”

English Language Arts (ELA)
• Overall proficiency in Grades 3–10 improved from 41% in 2024 to 43% in 2025.
• Middle school students (Grades 6–8) showed growth from 40% to 43%.
• High school ELA (Grades 9–10) demonstrated a notable 5-point increase, rising from 37% to 42%.

Mathematics
• Performance across all grades remained steady with only minimal shifts, reflecting consistency during a time of evolving state standards.
• The district continues to support foundational math skills and higher-level coursework in both middle and high school.

Science
• Grade 8 Science scores rose from 35% to 37%, signaling improvement in middle school science instruction.
• While Grade 5 Science dipped slightly, Biology EOC scores held firm with only a modest 2-point change.

Social Studies
• Civics End-of-Course (EOC) results surged from 44% in 2024 to 54% in 2025, marking a 10-point gain.
• U.S. History EOC scores increased from 47% to 54%, further highlighting success at the high school level.

“These results show that Okeechobee educators are making a difference,” said Tedders. “We’re particularly proud of the growth in Social Studies and the steady increases in ELA. These improvements are directly tied to our strategic focus on instruction, professional learning, and early intervention.”

As the  district continues to implement evidence-based practices and support students at every level, it expects to see increased scores in the coming school year. School grades are expected to be released by the Florida Department of Education later this summer.
