OKEECHOBEE -- Christopher Jermaine Allen, 36, has been identified as the man who was shot and killed Thursday afternoon in the Douglas Park subdivision.

K53192 Christopher Jermaine Allen

Allen, of a N.W. 11th Avenue address, was found lying in the street May 12 around 2:54 p.m. When deputies arrived on the scene he was lying in the 700 block of N.E. 14th Ave. He was pronounced dead at Raulerson Hospital.

A 29-year-old woman was also shot and taken to Raulerson. She was later transported by ambulance to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center in Fort Pierce. Her condition was not immediately known.

According to Michele Bell, public information officer for the Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO), investigators are still trying to determine a motive for the shooting.

She went on to say detectives are also searching for the weapon.
Mrs. Bell also said Allen’s autopsy was scheduled for sometime Friday afternoon, May 13.
