SOLitude Lake Management, in partnership with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), will hold a public meeting to discuss a proposed water quality restoration project for Lake Okeechobee. SOLitude leaders will discuss their role in this multi-phased, multi-year project, which is a critical component of the state’s strategy to improve water quality and protect the St. Lucie and Caloosahatchee estuaries.

Lake Okeechobee represents the ecological heart of Florida, yet decades of nutrient runoff have left a legacy of high phosphorus levels that fuel toxic blue-green algal blooms. These conditions threaten public health, hinder local economies, and damage the delicate ecosystems of the St. Lucie and Caloosahatchee estuaries. Addressing this historical pollution is an essential step in safeguarding Florida’s water resources and ensuring a resilient environment for future generations.
