QPR training willteach you the signs of suicide

LABELLE — The Florida Department of Health in Glades and Hendry County is offering “Question. Persuade. Refer.” (QPR) Training at the LaBelle Office located at 1140 Pratt Blvd. on the following dates:

• August 21, 2026, at 10-11 a.m.
• August 25, 2026, at 1-2 p.m.
• August 27, 2026, at 10-11 a.m.
• August 28, 2026, at 11 a.m. - noon

QPR teaches you the three steps anyone can learn to help prevent suicide. This free one hour training is for individuals living, working, and serving in Hendry and Glades Counties.

We Can All Save Lives

QPR stands for question, persuade, and refer. This training is facilitated by QPR Institute to empower attendees with the knowledge of how to reduce suicidal behaviors using innovative, practical, and proven suicide prevention strategies.

QPR Gatekeeper

A gatekeeper is someone in a position to recognize a crisis and the warning signs that someone may be contemplating suicide.

As a Certified QPR Gatekeeper

• Recognize the warning signs of suicide.

• Increase awareness of stigma and understand suicide as a public health issue.
• Know how to offer hope.
• Know how to access local and national referral resources.
• Know how to get help and save a life.

QPR gatekeepers can be anyone, including parents, teachers, ministers, youth, doctors, first responders, mental health professionals, and you, can all become QPR gatekeeper.
