OKEECHOBEE — On Sept. 28, at approximately 1:18 PM, Okeechobee City Police received a call regarding a possible fire in the meat section of Walmart located at 2101 S Parrott Ave. Upon arrival, police officers assisted the Okeechobee County Fire Rescue in evacuating the store until it was deemed that personnel and customers were safe to return inside.
Okeechobee County Fire Rescue reported the fire was caused by an electrical issue with the equipment.
