OKEECHOBEE — During the Jan. 7 meeting, his fellow council members chose City Council member Dowling Watford to serve another two-year term as mayor. This will be his third term in this position.

Council member Monica Clark was elected to serve as vice-mayor. This will be her second term in this position.

Both council members expressed their gratitude to the other council members. Clark jokingly said to Watford, "I don't ever get to do anything because you are always here."

Watford is known for his reliable attendance to council meetings.  Watford has been a council member for 41 years and prides himself on never missing a meeting.
