OKEECHOBEE — In a verbal conflict over speeding, a woman allegedly pulled a gun on the man with whom she was arguing.
Amber Wiggins, 31, U.S. 441 Southeast, was arrested Sept. 11 by OCSO Deputy J. Fairtrace and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
According to the arrest report, Deputy Fairtrace was dispatched to Zachary Taylor RV regarding a disturbance. When the deputy arrived, she spoke with a man, who told her he and his wife were driving on 30th Terrace toward U.S. 441 Southeast when they were almost hit by a white pickup truck. He said the truck tried to speed around him. He got out of his vehicle to talk to the other driver, and they got into a shouting match. Then, the woman driving the truck, later identified as Wiggins, reportedly pulled out a turquoise gun with a light-colored slide and threatened him with it.
The deputy noted park workers have complained about Wiggins’ speeding in the park on several occasions.
Deputy Gauroniak stopped Wiggins as she was leaving the park and questioned her about the alleged incident. She denied having a gun with her at the time of the incident but allegedly said she had a concealed carry permit and owned a turquoise gun.
Bond was set at $10,000.
