BELLE GLADE — Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Mu Rho Omega Chapter, will host the 2019 Ivy Leaf Pageant. The theme is “Black Excellence: A Night In Wakanda.” The Ivy Leaf Pageant is a scholarship pageant designed to raise funds for scholarships. Contestants are asked to participate in activities and raise funds to promote community involvement and educational enrichment. The contestant who raises the most funds will be crowned “Miss Ivy Leaf.” All proceeds raised from this event will be awarded to graduating seniors in Pahokee, Belle Glade, South Bay and Clewiston.
The Ivy Leaf Pageant features the following three age groups in this year’s pageant: Miss Ivy (ages five to seven), Miss Tea Rose (ages eight to twelve), Miss Pink & Green (ages 13 to 18). The chairwoman of the 2019 Ivy Leaf Pageant is Ronelda Arnette.
The Mu Rho Omega Chapter extends an invitation to the community to attend this event and support the participants. The pageant will be held on Saturday, May 18, at the First Baptist Church, 17 N.W. Ave B, in Belle Glade. The pageant will commence at 6 p.m.
The Beautiful Ivy Leaf Contestants are:
Miss Pink and Green Category: Jatiyah Burroughs and Ty’Onna Jones.
Miss Tea and Rose Category: Ajaisia Crawford and De’Aja Thompson.
Miss Ivy Category: Ja’Cara Warren, Micaiah Thomas and Aubri Dowdell.
