BELLE GLADE — A Palm Beach County Fire Rescue press release stated at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, April 1, crews responded to reports of a fire on the 300 block of West Canal Street inside the Johnson Trailer Park.

The first arriving firefighters reported that a mobile home was fully engulfed in flames. Crews started a defensive fire attack while also protecting surrounding exposures. The fire was extinguished within 14 minutes of arrival and there were no reported injuries.

Local Red Cross volunteers on a Disaster Action Team were on site to help coordinate emergency aid to those affected.

Fire officials say two adults and two children have been displaced by the blaze. The Red Cross continues to assess the immediate emergency needs such as food, temporary lodging and clothing.

On average, 36 people suffer injuries as a result of home fires every day. That’s why the American Red Cross launched the nationwide Home Fire Campaign in 2014 which aims to reduce home fire deaths and injuries by 25 percent.
