iTECH Glades would like to recognize the graduating class of 2024. Forty students from Glades and Hendry counties participated with Immokalee Technical College on Thursday, May 23 in the graduation ceremony. These completers are now ready to enter the workforce and help to fill the needed employment gap for the area.
We would like to thank the following advisory boards from each of our programs for the guidance, support, partnership and job opportunities for our students.
Accounting Operations and Medical Administrative Specialist taught by Janet Harris with one successful completer in each of the programs. One Dual Enrollment student was successful in completing the Accounting Operations program and is now ready to enter the workforce and one student successfully completed the medical administrative specialist program and is employed with Physicians Primary Care.
Culinary Arts and Hospitality with seven successful completers under the direction of Chef Shauna Kay Elliott, with continued support from Matt with Calusa Catering, Seminole Brighton Casino, Glades County School District and The Heartland Café.
Community support from Glade & Grove, Kelly Tractor, John Deere, U.S. Sugar and United Rentals allowed eight students who successfully completed the Heavy Equipment Service Technician Program with instructor Neil Elmore to obtain full-time employment in the agriculture field.
Thanks to the support from HERC, Miller’s Central Air and United Rentals, seven students enrolled in the HVAC/R program with instructor Luis Daponte have earned the credentials for full-time job placement.
The Licensed Practical Nursing program taught by Bessie Jo Hernandez hosted a pinning ceremony in September for the 16 students who were successful in completing their classroom instructional hours. These students were also invited to participate in the graduation ceremony.
The students were fortunate to have community support along with a way to help cover funding expenses for tuition, books, uniforms, and tools.
iTECH GLADES Principals’ Choice scholarship, Career Source of Southwest Florida, FutureMakers and the Farmworkers Community Development program all played an active role in making this possible. For those interested in learning more about the programs offered at iTECH GLADES additional information can be found on our website @ itech.edu.
