CES celebrates Literacy Week

Central Elementary School in Clewiston celebrated Literacy Week by integrating the importance of reading into students’ preparation for future careers.

They started the week off with a Career Literacy Parade, where each grade dressed for a specialized career that they would read and learn about all week. Upper grades paired with lower-grade students as one-on-one reading buddies. Each grade had members from the community come in to speak to them about their careers, from nursing, to banking, and even hands-on farming experience. The students and staff finished up their Literacy Week with a celebratory color run on Friday.
