TALLAHASSEE — The holidays just got a lot brighter! The Florida Lottery is bringing a chance for extra sparkle to the season with an estimated $980 million-dollar Mega Millions® jackpot landing just in time for the holiday celebrations.

The Mega Millions jackpot has been rolling since it was last won on June 27, growing steadily over five months to nearly a billion dollars. If won, it would rank among the largest jackpots in Mega Millions history. The last time a Floridian claimed a Mega Millions jackpot was on August 8, 2023, taking home $794.2 million. Could lightning strike again in the Sunshine State?

“The holidays are the perfect time to give back,” said Secretary John F. Davis. “Each Mega Millions ticket bought in Florida gives back to education through contributions to the Bright Futures Scholarship Program. That’s a true gift that keeps on giving.”

This record-setting jackpot surpasses last year’s December 20 drawing of $862 million, making this season one to remember for players across the Sunshine State.

Mega Millions tickets cost $5 per play and are available at over 13,500 retailers statewide. Players have until 10:00 p.m. ET on draw nights to purchase tickets for that evening’s drawing. To play, select five numbers from 1 to 70 and one Mega Ball number from 1 to 24, or choose Quick Pick for randomly generated numbers.

Every ticket sold contributes to education in Florida. Since 1988, the Florida Lottery has generated more than $49 billion to enhance education, including the Bright Futures Scholarship Program, which has helped over 1 million students achieve their academic dreams.

The Florida Lottery extends its gratitude to the millions of Floridians whose continued support helps fuel educational success throughout the state.

Don’t miss your chance to make this a holiday to remember! Remember to play and gift responsibly; it only takes one ticket to dream big!
