CLEWISTON — The Clewiston High School Track and Field team represented the Tigers at the state championships on May 17.
Levi Campbell, Keon Trimble, Jerrmyll Ray, Henry Mason, and Xavier Charles made the trip to Jacksonville to compete in the state championship. Campbell, Ray, Trimble, Mason, and Charles came in ninth in the 4x100 relay. While Ray finished in 13th in the 200 meter.
Tiger Track and Field coach Jay Similien credited his student-athletes for their consistent appearances in state championships over the years.
“We could not be more proud of our state qualifiers,” said Similien. “We ran our season best in the 200 meter. These student-athletes dug deep to be able to perform at this level. All of our seniors have every reason to walk away with their head held high.”
Before their trip to Jacksonville, the Tigers earned district runners-up honors back in April. Ray was crowned a district champion for his time in the 100 and 200 meter. Sadler Soles was named the district champion in shotput and discus.
