Posted

CLEWISTON —  In the early morning hours on June 21, 2024, Clewiston Police Officers, assisted by a Canine Deputy with the Hendry County Sheriff’s Office, served a search warrant at East Trinidad Avenue, stemming from several citizen complaints.

During the initial warrant service, officers discovered a male in a locked shed in the rear of the property. The male refused to cooperate. After making forced entry, the male, identified as Marcelino Cacop, was taken into custody. The shed had been modified to be a living space.

During the search of the home, the shed, and other structures, officers discovered illegal narcotics, drug paraphernalia, and ammunition.

Silver L. Rush, the 56-year-old homeowner was arrested for possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of ammunition by a convicted felon. He will be booked into the Hendry County Jail without bond.

Marcelino Cacop, 46-years-old, was arrested on charges of resisting an officer. He will be booked into the Hendry County Jail on $2,500 bond.

Chief Tom Lewis stated, “This morning’s arrests are a great example of the partnership we hold with the community. They reported the activity, we listened, and the community is better for it. Also, we’d like to thank Sheriff Steve Whidden for his partnership and assistance.” Anyone with information on illegal activity can call the Clewiston Police Department at 863-983-1474.
